AI SEO: How to Optimize Your Website for AI Search.

AI search is changing how people discover information. This page is my practical framework for AI SEO, covering technical SEO, topical authority, answer-focused content, internal linking, entity clarity and visibility across AI-powered search experiences.

01 · THE FOUNDATION

What is AI SEO?

AI SEO is the broader practice of making a website easy for search systems and AI-powered experiences to discover, understand and use. It does not replace traditional SEO. It builds on the same fundamentals while paying more attention to topical clarity, useful answers, entities, context and first-hand information.

AI SEO

A broader search strategy

AI SEO connects technical SEO, content, entities, internal linking and search intent into one system designed for both traditional search results and newer AI-powered search experiences.

AI SEARCH

Search is becoming conversational

People increasingly ask longer and more specific questions. Your content needs to provide clear, useful information that can stand on its own and fit naturally into a wider answer.

THE GOAL

Become a useful source

The goal is not to force an AI system to mention a brand. The goal is to build a site that is relevant, understandable, trustworthy and genuinely useful for the questions it answers.

02 · SEARCH EVOLUTION

Traditional SEO vs AI Search

The fundamentals still matter. The difference is that AI-powered search can synthesize information from multiple sources and answer more complex questions.

Traditional SEO

  • Target relevant search queries and topics
  • Build crawlable, indexable pages
  • Match content to search intent
  • Strengthen internal linking and site architecture
  • Improve relevance, usability and authority
  • Measure impressions, clicks and rankings

AI Search Optimization

  • Answer specific questions clearly and directly
  • Make entities, relationships and context easy to understand
  • Publish original observations and first-hand experience
  • Connect related topics into a coherent knowledge base
  • Make important information easy to find and interpret
  • Measure search visibility and test what changes over time

03 · PUBLIC EXPERIMENT

My AI SEO Experiment

Instead of writing another article predicting what AI search might do, I am testing the process on my own website and publishing the results publicly.

DAY 2 · ACTIVE EXPERIMENT ankitsharmaaiseoexpert.in

Can a small personal website become a useful source for AI-generated search answers without actively building backlinks?

That is the question I am testing. I am changing the website itself, documenting the work and watching the data instead of making a promise about the outcome.

The experiment focuses on technical SEO, topical authority, internal linking, answer-first content, first-hand observations, clear author and entity signals, and Search Console data. I am not buying backlinks, running artificial link-building campaigns, stuffing keywords or publishing large volumes of generic AI content.

3 Baseline organic clicks
36 Baseline impressions
8.3% Baseline CTR
21.8 Baseline average position
Baseline saved from Google Search Console before the main website changes. The numbers above are a starting point, not a result claim. I will update this experiment as new data becomes available.

04 · MY FRAMEWORK

How I am building AI Search visibility

I am treating AI SEO as a connected website system rather than a collection of isolated articles.

01

One clear topical entity

Build the site around a clear subject so the relationship between the main topic, supporting concepts and author expertise is easy to understand.

02

Answer-first content

Answer the actual question quickly, then provide context, examples, process and useful details instead of filling the page with generic introductions.

03

Topical connections

Connect AI SEO with AEO, GEO, LLMO, AI Search and Google AI Overviews through natural internal links and logically related pages.

04

First-hand evidence

Use my own implementation, screenshots, observations, tests and Search Console data wherever the topic benefits from practical evidence.

05

Technical accessibility

Keep important pages crawlable, indexable, logically structured and easy to navigate so search engines can discover and understand the content.

06

Measure before claiming

Record the baseline first. Then compare impressions, clicks, queries, positions, indexed pages and other observable signals after each meaningful change.

06 · MEASUREMENT

What I will track

The experiment only becomes useful if the changes can be compared with a recorded baseline.

SEARCH CONSOLE

Impressions and clicks

Track how organic visibility changes after the new AI SEO content and internal linking structure are indexed.

QUERIES

What people actually search

Use emerging queries to understand which topics and questions are starting to connect with the site.

POSITIONS

Ranking movement

Compare average positions for the main AI SEO topic and supporting queries instead of judging success from one keyword alone.

INDEXING

Pages discovered and indexed

Record when important pages are discovered and indexed so content changes can be interpreted against timing.

AI VISIBILITY

Observable AI search presence

Where AI-search visibility can be observed reliably, record the query, context and source appearance rather than relying on assumptions.

EXPERIMENT LOG

Every major change

Keep a dated record of content, technical and internal-linking changes so future results have a clear cause-and-effect timeline to evaluate.

07 · FAQ

Questions about AI SEO

Straight answers based on the framework I am using for this website and experiment.

What is AI SEO?

AI SEO is an approach that combines traditional SEO fundamentals with clear topical coverage, useful answers, entity context, first-hand information and strong site architecture for modern AI-powered search experiences.

Is AI SEO different from traditional SEO?

AI SEO does not replace traditional SEO. Crawlability, indexing, relevance, useful content and good site architecture still matter. The additional focus is on making information clear and useful when search systems synthesize answers from multiple sources.

Can AI SEO guarantee a place in Google AI Overviews?

No. There is no legitimate method that can guarantee a specific website will be selected for an AI Overview. My experiment is about improving the site’s usefulness and eligibility while measuring what happens over time.

Do I need to build backlinks for AI SEO?

Backlinks can still be valuable as part of overall SEO, especially when they are naturally earned. This particular experiment is testing whether meaningful AI-search visibility can be improved without actively running backlink-building campaigns.

What are AEO, GEO and LLMO?

AEO commonly refers to Answer Engine Optimization, GEO to Generative Engine Optimization, and LLMO to Large Language Model Optimization. The terminology overlaps, so I use AI SEO as the broader umbrella for the connected strategy on this website.

How long will this AI SEO experiment run?

The experiment is designed to run long enough to collect meaningful before-and-after data. I will publish updates as the website changes and Search Console data develops instead of setting an artificial deadline for a result.

Want to follow the experiment or work with me?
